Content: HOME PAGE Welcome to NP Dyslexia. My name is Norma Patrick and I provide individualised, Specialist Literacy Support in and around the Scarborough area where I live (including Filey, Pickering and Malton) for pupils displaying dyslexic tendencies. I am passionate about promoting dyslexia awareness generally, and, in particular, supporting dyslexic children (especially Primary age – 7 to 11 year olds) in order to help them achieve their full potential in literacy. Dyslexia is a specific learning disorder which affects at least one in ten people. However dyslexia is a bit of a ‘grey and woolly’ condition in that each person can display different symptoms, ranging from mild to severe, so what may cause problems for one person may not be wholly evident in another person. That is why the service I provide is so important, as I aim to identify areas of specific weakness which are becoming barriers to learning, and work on these in hour long, weekly lessons tailored to the individual child’s needs, in a calm, non-threatening and encouraging environment. Please read through my website, in particular the Indicators of Dyslexia [ link to Indicators of Dyslexia page] and, if you recognise some or any of the features mentioned and are concerned that your child is at risk of falling behind in literacy at school, then please do not hesitate to get in touch via the Contact Page [link to Contact Page] so that we can more fully discuss dyslexia in general and begin to apply a suitable solution and strategies to suit your child’s needs.  - Name: description
